Thank You!
I seriously considered doing this with an alt of mine. The alt would fly an Orca and I would fly everything else. Basically, it would become a mobile point base from which I could carry my Tengu, Cov-ops, salvager and maybe something for some pewpew.
There are a lot of w-space systems out there that noone wants to live in with tons of sites in them. But, to be nomadic will require that you have the ability to resupply yourself, repair yourself, probe and salvage. And while you can make a single ship to do that, you'll quickly run out of ammo. And besides, the fit would be so gimped as to make it not worth your time and effort. Hence, the idea of using the Orca as a MPB.
The problem with this is you're extremely vulnerable. Losing your MPB would mean losing all ships within it, all equipment you had in it and any loot you had been accumulating. So, while I think it's viable, it's not without some risk which many might consider unacceptable.
Easy way around that. Take your orca mobile base, stick a small POS and some fuel for it in the orca (don't bother with any mods for the POS, just have a small POS, and note, this is optional) and fit a cloak on the orca. Minimum mods for the orca are cloak and probe launcher, further mods to taste. This way, you have your orca cloaked up somewhere, then when you need to you can warp to the orca at the safespot to swap stuff out, drop loot, etc. And, if you need to have a safe place to do this, for whatever reason, you can always drop the small POS, put in a few hours of fuel, and then pick it back up when you are ready to cloak up again.
Works like a treat for smaller WH's if you like the nomadic life, and works great if you use just t3's, but though the orca has a nice amount of cargo space, the ship maintenance bay does leave much to be desired, so you are kinda stuck in the ship that you go through in. An orca's bay can fit 1 BC/command ship and 1 cruiser, or 4 cruisers (depending upon the cruiser) or 3 cruisers and a few frigs. Note, a noctis counts as a BC in this scenario.
